You read countless articles and heard the advice from the "experts" and you realized that you are leaving money on the table by not having an opt-in list. For more detail go to: you finally decide to up that pop-up window and squeeze page on your website. Then it happens, you thought you knew everything there was to know about email marketing and you followed the advice others gave you, just to find out that you are not making a profit.

You have worked your list and did everything possible to offer great value to your readers to get them to buy. After several months go by you realize when you see your stats and sales, you are actually loosing money.

You ask yourself, what could have gone wrong when you know others are succeeding. Then you start to question that maybe you have chosen the wrong topic or not a very popular topic. Listen, don't get discouraged and question yourself. You can rejuvenate your list and ideas, following the below tips will help you in getting your list going.

* First and foremost you must be able to build a foundation of trust with your readers and any possible new subscribers. Trust is a very important part of any business model that deals with customers. Your customers must have the feeling that you are an expert in the topic you have chosen to build your list around.

* Join some article directories sites and create 30 or 40 articles based upon your topic and submit these articles to the article directory sites. For more detail go to: Do not submit them all at once; spread it out over several weeks. Make sure you fully fill out your author profile and use the resource box to link back to your site.

* Next join some related forums based upon your topic and jump on in and start providing advice and helping where you can. Let others know that you are here to help in any way you can. Be kind to those on the forums and make sure you fill out your profile and your signature should link to your site. Do not try to hide anything on forums, tell them your name and how old you are and the state you live in.

* Have others review your products or services and post testimonials on your site. Make sure the testimonials are real and unedited and they link to the person’s website that is giving the testimony. If you built a good reputation on the forums you could ask some of your friends if they would review your site or products.

* Find the Solution to Fix Your Customers Problems

* Locate or create a product or service that helps cure others problems. If you know your topic very well then you should have no problems in creating a product for that topic. You can also search Google for affiliate programs under your topic and research some great products that your readers could use.

* Make sure that you do your research, even if you already know about the topic you have chosen. You can use places like Yahoo Answers to get ideas on what people are looking for and what solutions they need to fix what problems they have. Investing your time in doing research could pay you back 10 fold.

* Make Friends with Other Opt-In List Owners

* This would be greatly beneficial to you and your business, especially if the list owners already have launched a successful list. These list owners would already have experience in this venture and experience is still the best teacher. There are many things that experienced list owners could help you with since they have already been through the ups and downs.

* Making friends with list owners can also be beneficial because you could develop a joint venture with them. Building a join venture would allow you and the list owner(s) to promote a product and split the commissions made from that product. This is especially successful when the list owner(s) happen to be using the same or similar topic as you.

Building a profitable opt-in list don't just happen overnight. There is time and research involved and many preparations that need done. As your opt-in list grows make sure to maintain quality and treat your subscribers very well. Keep everything organized and manageable, if you need any help ask your list owner friends. Just make sure that your subscribers are happy and satisfied and they will be willing to buy from you.
